To synergize the coordination of the implementation of tasks and functions in its development and operations later on, the Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Sea Transportation and Subang Regency Government has established a joint agreement.
The cooperation was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties in Jakarta, on August 20, 2019. “This signing is a form of mutual support and increasing synergy between the two parties to make it more efficient and effective,” said R. Agus H. Purnomo, Director General of Sea Transportation, who together with the Regent of Subang, H. Ruhimat, signed the Memorandum of Understanding.
The cooperation, which is planned to be valid for five years and can be extended, includes the provision and/or services related to ports in the Patimban Port Area. Meanwhile, the implementation would be regulated further.
Ruhimat said the agreement was the first step for his party to directly contribute to the development of Patimban Port. The contribution is in the form of providing opportunities for the community to actively and widely participate.
“We have prepared a special company involving the Subang Regency Government and the community, namely PT Subang Patimban Jaya,” said Ruhimat. This BUMD (Regional-owned Enterprise) is established in connection with the implementation of the cooperation agreement with the Class II Port Authority and Port Authority (KSOP) of Patimban.
In this case, Agus requested that all work processes, both administrative and technical requirements be complied with the requirement. “It must be wised to prepare all the instruments in accordance with what is required by legislation. We will support it as long as according to the rules, so that all development processes can meet the terms and be safe,” Agus said.
The preparation process of the collaboration between Patimban KSOP Class II with the Subang Regency BUMD should be carried out according to the provisions. Then followed by a cooperation agreement between the two. One of the cooperation agreements that needs to be implemented immediately is the provision of clean water.
On this occasion, the Head of Patimban KSOP Class II, Anwar, said that to smooth the port construction, it is necessary to immediately build the road access with adequate conditions for heavy equipment access. “This is different from the port operational access road,” he said.
Access road to Patimban Harbor is currently 4 meters wide with a distance of 7 kilometers. Later on this road will be 20 meters wide. “Currently, it has been built in stages and around 40 percent has been completed,” explained Agus, who also asked the Subang Regency Government to provide security for port service users, especially car manufacturers.
Ruhimat guarantees that the security in his area was conducive enough. “The people of Subang will certainly give their support to secure their territories,” he said. Especially when considering that the Patimban Port is built by the Government to improve the shipping business, encouraging economic growth, and supporting community business activities.
