Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana (BNPB) or National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) soon will be supported by Boeing CH-47D Chinook and Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk to perform their tasks.
The two newly leased helicopters will support BNPB that previously utilize Kamov and Mi-8 in performing their tasks.
Currently, BNPB is conducting a one-month trial for Chinook helicopters. With capacity up to 10,000 liters water, it could be optimized for water-bombing air operations. This multipurpose designed helicopter also can support logistics delivery operations to disaster-affected areas.
As for Black Hawk, the multipurpose helicopter will be utilized to support water bombing operations. (Donna)
